Vikas D. Nahar was born into a family of farmers and hails from Karnataka. His family formerly used to farm coffee and black pepper. As he had always seen his family doing their own business, he had always wanted to start his work. After completing his school education, he attended Bangalore University and graduated in 2005 with a degree in computer science. After that, he began working as a senior import manager for Jain Group after receiving After working there for some time, Vikas left his job to pursue an MBA at Symbiosis International University. Later, he became a managing director at Satvikk Specialty Foods following the completion of his MBA. He got a lot of experience working for the company, which eventually helped him start his work.

Over the years, he started almost 20 new ventures, but none of them worked and eventually fizzled out. Finally, after gaining experience from his past experiences, he decided to quit and, in 2016, started his venture, Happilo. In an interview, he revealed that he used just Rs 10,000 to launch the business. In the beginning, there were just two employees in the business.

Apart from that, Happilo currently produces forty different kinds of dried fruit. His company has also established a significant market presence with 60 types of spices and 100 types of chocolates. According to reports, the valuation of Happilo has ranged from Rs 10,000 to Rs 500 crore today.
