Who Is Devendra Fadnavis?

Devendra Fadnavis is an Indian politician belonging to the BJP and served as the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 31 October 2014 to 12 November 2019. He was the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra from the BJP. Know about him in detail here:

Fadnavis, who was born on 22 July 1970 in Nagpur, hails from a middle-class Brahmin family and his full name is Devendra Gangadhar Fadnavis. At the age of 44, Fadnavis became the youngest Chief Minister of the state after Sharad Pawar. He took oath as the Chief Minister on 31 October 2014 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He served as the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 31 October 2014 to 12 November 2019.

He has completed his schooling at Saraswati Vidyalaya, Nagpur. He took admission in Government Law College, Nagpur for a five-year integrated law degree. Graduated in the year 1992. His diverse educational background includes a Graduate Degree in Law, a Post Graduate Degree in Business Management and a Diploma in Project Management from D.S.E. Berlin. He married Amruta Ranade in the year 2006.

Political Journey Of Devendra Fadnavis

– Devendra Fadnavis started his political career with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He joined the Maharashtra unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party as the Ward President.

– From 1986 to 1989, Fadnavis was an active member of ABVP and worked to inspire the youth toward the reconstruction of the society.

– He became the youngest Municipal Councilor of Nagpur Municipal Corporation at the age of 21. He is also the only person to be re-elected as Mayor in Maharashtra.

– Fadnavis was reportedly brought into the limelight by Gopinath Munde, who considered him a promising youth leader.

– Fadnavis became the second-youngest Chief Minister of Maharashtra on 31 October 2014 at the age of 44.

– He led the party in Maharashtra during the 2014 general elections.

– Fadnavis also created history by becoming the first chief minister in Maharashtra in nearly four decades to complete a full tenure of five years.

– Within 17 days of achieving this milestone, Devendra Fadnavis created another record by becoming the chief minister with the shortest tenure in Maharashtra. Devendra Fadnavis’ second stint as chief minister lasted only 80 hours.

– He became the second person to complete his full term as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra in October 2019. Vasantrao Naik was the first person to do so from 1963 to 1975.
