Maza Nahi Aaya: Lava President Takes Potshot At Nothing Phone 2a Over Its Storage & RAM

A top brass executive of Lava International took a potshot at Nothing’s Phone 2a on social media by saying that there’s “nothing interesting” about its most affordable smartphone to date. The president and business head of Lava, Sunil Raina, nitpicked about two very specific hardware pointers namely — The phone’s storage and RAM type. He gave his quick and short review of Nothing Phone 2a on X (formerly known as Twitter), based on those parameters alone. Nothing Phone 2a features UFS2.2 storage and LPDDR4x RAM.

Given the price range of the phone which is Rs 23,999, this offering is not terrible but, it appears that Raina felt otherwise. It seems like he was hyping his own product through that review, Lava Blaze Curve to be specific. Lava Blaze Curve was launched in India just a day before with a faster UFS3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM and that too at a lower price.

He tweeted, “LPDDR 4X UFS 2.2. Maza nahi aaya Bhai. Nothing interesting”

Lava Blaze Curve & Nothing Phone 2a Have Their Own Achilles’ Heel

The Nothing Phone 2a has its moments. It comes with a number of advantages as well as disadvantages just like any other smartphone. The Lava Blaze Curve is no different, its Achilles’ heel being software. The phone runs on Android 13 at launch even as Nothing is offering buyers Android 14. The Phone 2a is also eligible for longer support from the company with up to three years of major OS and four years of software updates guaranteed while Lava will commit to only two and three.

Brands dissing each other is not very new, however, it does add some spice to the normally quiet and boring market.
