8 people were trapped in the flood in Alwara village of Dhanera, who were rescued by the NDRF team. There is also news of death of more than 15 animals due to flood. In more than 100 talukas of North Gujarat, the condition of people is miserable due to rain.
There was flood in Banas river of Banaskantha district yesterday. Due to the stoppage of rain in the night, the water of the river receded a bit, but from this morning the river is again in spate due to heavy rains.
Banas river is going to rise again
There is a danger of the Banas river coming in spate again due to heavy rains. 3 villages have been cut off due to river water washing away the road to Chanvaya village of Amirgarh.
District Magistrate, District Development Officer and District Superintendent of Police have reached Dhanera. At the same time, rescue and fire teams have also been sent to Amirgarh.
Pavadasan village of Tharad taluka has been flooded. The houses are completely submerged. People have been shifted to safer places.
Two villages in the grip of flood in Tharad
There is still a flood situation in Tharad taluka. There was torrential rain here on Friday from morning to afternoon. The rain stopped in the night, but since this morning it is again raining intermittently.
More than a dozen villages in the taluka are in the grip of floods. 25 NDRF personnel have reached Pavadasan and Duva villages. The villagers trapped in the flood are being evacuated.
Train services have been suspended near Dugdol village in Dhanera taluka as railway tracks were washed away in water.
Rail tracks uprooted in Dhanera
It is raining heavily in Dhanera taluka as well. Dhanera Tehsil’s contact with 8 villages has been cut off due to overflowing of many small rivers. At the same time, rail service has been affected due to the washing away of railway tracks near Big Dugdol village.
Intermittent heavy rains are continuing in Palanpur city as well. People’s life has been affected due to submergence of roads.
Dry rivers revived due to heavy rains
Due to heavy rains in the upper areas, water continues to flow into the Banas river. Due to this, water has come in other tributaries connected to it. Due to this, almost all the dry rivers of Banaskantha district have blossomed again.
Water has also started coming in the biggest Dantiwada Dam of Banaskantha. Till 8 am, 48 thousand cusecs of water has been recorded in the dam. The farmers are happy because of this.
In Tharad, a huge tree fell on the highway due to strong winds, causing traffic to come to a standstill for 6 hours.
