While Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal opened to good numbers at the box office, it is also being called out for toxic masculinity, misogyny, gore and violence. As the film continues to receive mixed reviews, actor Manoj Bajpayee’s take on Kabir Singh is going viral on the internet.

During a chat with Mid Day, the actor said, “Kabir Singh for me, is part of the society. You want to take it the way it is, it’s fine. You don’t want to take it the way it is don’t watch it. The moment you want to burden it with your own morality, then be ready for all other segments of the society, who are going to point fingers and try to censor other contents which will not suit their morality. Are you ready for it?”

He then went on to say that shutting down such films is a futile exercise. He continued, “If you shut down one Kabir Singh, there will be 50 other films that you will agree with and the other segments will not agree with, they will burden with their own morality and they will start censoring it. They will start pelting stones at the theatre because those films that they don’t agree with are showing them there. So, in a society where you want films to be shown for everybody, you can be critical of it, you can be critical of of the character when you are writing it, you can write your point of view, but you can’t be of the opinion that you should not be making this film. Don’t do this. It’s a bad precedent. Films don’t change society, films change hairstyles.”

Meanwhile, Animal, headlined by Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, has surpassed Rs 100 crore worldwide in just one day. This has resulted in Animal becoming Ranbir’s biggest opener.
