The court has given CBI remand of Deputy CM Manish Sisodia till March 4. In the Delhi Liquor Policy case, the investigating agency had sought 5-day custody of Sisodia, which was accepted by the court. Earlier, Sisodia was produced at Rouse Avenue Court at 3:10 pm on Monday. After hearing about 30 minutes, the court had reserved its decision on the demand of CBI’s remand.

CBI arrested Sisodia on Sunday after 8 hours of questioning. The investigating agency had said that Sisodia was not giving correct answers to the questions. That’s why his remand is necessary.

Digital device, liquor policy draft report and officer’s statement, this is what led Sisodia to arrest…
It is being told in the reports quoting CBI sources that on August 19 last year, the CBI investigated the Delhi Excise Department. A digital device was seized from there. From this device, CBI came to know that a document of liquor policy was sent to a system which was not in the network of excise department.

After this, the CBI called the officer of the Excise Department for questioning. The officer provided details of a system, which was seized by the agency from Sisodia’s office on January 14 this year. Most of the files in this system were deleted, but with the help of its forensic team, the CBI retrieved the data. Forensic investigation revealed that the document was made from outside and received on WhatsApp.

After getting this information, the CBI called the 1996 batch bureaucrat for investigation. This bureaucrat had worked as the secretary of Sisodia. According to sources, the officer told the CBI that in March 2021, Sisodia had called him to Kejriwal’s office. There the minister’s report on the draft liquor policy was given to the officer. Satyendar Jain was also present during this.

The officer told that the rule of 12% profit margin came from this draft report itself. No record was found of any discussion for this rule, or any file related to it. On Sunday, CBI questioned Sisodia about this draft report but Sisodia refused to share the information. The officer’s statement was recorded before a magistrate in early February.

The CBI said after the arrest that the answers to the questions put to Sisodia were not satisfactory. The arrest has been made in connection with irregularities in the liquor policy and making personal gains through it.

2. The CBI said that Sisodia avoided answering many important questions. We also presented evidence before them, but they did not cooperate in the investigation. The agency said that it is necessary to keep him in custody for in-depth questioning.

3. CBI said that Sisodia was interrogated for 8 hours. Sisodia was questioned about liquor policy, Sisodia’s connection with Dinesh Arora. Sisodia has also made several phone calls. Several phone sets were also destroyed. Based on his details, questions were asked to Sisodia.

4. Dinesh Arora is a businessman from Delhi. He has a restaurant. ED has also investigated in this matter. In it, Dinesh Arora has been described as close to Sisodia. The agency said that Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh spoke to Arora regarding election funding. After this, Arora sought cooperation in funding from many businessmen and gave Rs 82 lakh to Sisodia for the assembly elections. Arora turned approver after the investigation into the liquor policy case began. It was he who had named Sisodia and many big AAP leaders.

WHAT NEXT: Finance Ministry challenge for Kejriwal government, budget to be presented
Sisodia was handling 18 out of 33 departments of the Delhi government, including finance, education and home. In such a situation, the biggest challenge before Kejriwal is the Finance Ministry, because the budget is to be presented soon. Sisodia is the second Delhi minister who has been arrested. Health Minister Satyendar Jain has been in jail since June 2022 and is currently a minister without portfolio. So far, several arrests have been made in the case including AAP spokesperson Vijay Nair.
