An offense was registered in connection with the incident by Umreth Police Based on Thakkar’s complaint, however, the investigation raised doubts about the complaint itself. The police questioned Thakkar and gathered some more evidence.
It was learned that Thakkar had struck a land deal with Patel and was to pay Rs 11 lakh to Patel on Tuesday. Thakkar could not arrange the money by the due date.
Thakkar reportedly hired Paresh Talpada, who worked in a cattle shed. He asks Talpada to wear a helmet and help him so that he can get the insurance claim.
Talpada followed Thakkar wearing a helmet, pushed him when he got out of the car and took the bag. The bag was really empty. Talpada burnt the bag, helmet and jacket to destroy the evidence.
