Man Booked For Posting Obscene Comment Against Maha CM On Social Media

Mumbai Police has booked a man for allegedly posting an obscene comment against Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Facebook. A 56-year-old woman, who is also the coordinator of the Shinde-led Shiv Sena for the Andheri assembly constituency, filed a complaint in the matter. According to the complaint, the Facebook account on which the obscene comment was posted belongs to a Shiv Sena (UBT) activist. An official told news agency PTI that the complainant came across the comment while reading a newspaper online.

The official added that the post was intended to insult the modesty of a woman. Now, a case has been lodged against the Shiv Sena (UBT) activist under Indian Penal Code sections 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 153- A (1) (promoting enmity between two groups) and provisions of the Information Technology Act, as reported by PTI.

This is the second offence registered against Shiv Sena (UBT) activists in three days. Earlier on Friday, Mumbai Police lodged a case against 50-60 unidentified people in connection with the clash that broke out between supporters of the Shinde-led Shiv Sena and the Uddhav Sena at the memorial of party founder late Bal Thackeray on Thursday.

Shiv Sena workers were allegedly heard shouting that the party belongs to them and the supporters of the Uddhav-faction raised the slogan ‘traitors go back’.

PTI quoted Chief Minister Shinde as saying, “Maintaining law and order is everyone’s responsibility. I pay homage a day earlier to ensure there are no law and order problems. I condemn the attempt to disrupt peace. After I left, (Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Anil Desai and Anil Parab came with supporters and shouted slogans against me, An unnecessary attempt was made to disrupt peace.”
