Man arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing young girls in Jerusalem

Police said Monday that they had arrested a Jerusalem resident on suspicion of sexually assaulting four young girls, including his sister.

The man, in his thirties, was arrested on August 21 and has been held since as police interrogated him and collected evidence. Police identified him as a resident of the Givat Shaul neighborhood.

Police said one woman testified that the suspect had assaulted her five years ago, when she was 13, along with another girl who was 8 years old at the time.

Another girl testified that when she was 13, he brought her to his home and there forced her to have sexual relations with another youth, also a minor.

Police said that during questioning the suspect also admitted to sexually abusing his sister 14 years ago, when she was a child, at their parents’ home.

The Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court on Sunday extended the man’s remand by four days and prosecutors are expected to file charges in the coming days, police said.

“The Israel Police will continue to act against sex offenders wherever they are, to expose sex crimes and their perpetrators even after years have passed, with the aim of bringing them to justice,” police said.
