The trailer of Sara Ali Khan’s Ae Watan Mere Watan is out. Set against the backdrop of 1942’s Quit India Movement, the movie is inspired by real events and tells the story of unsung heroes during a pivotal chapter of India’s freedom struggle. Sara Ali Khan portrays Usha, whose underground radio system becomes an important beacon of the Movement. Ahead the release of the film, the makers have unveiled a song from the movie titled ‘Julia’.

Makers today unveiled the peppy music video of Julia from its upcoming movie Ae Watan Mere Watan. Julia is sung by Divya Kumar and Shashi Suman, composed by Shashi Suman, and penned by Prashant Ingole. The song tugs at the heartstrings of listeners with its upbeat composition, endearing lyrics, and old-world charm. Julia perfectly encapsulates the feeling of butterflies one experiences when first falling in love. The listeners will be transported back to a simpler time with a classic touch on the soulful vocals.

The trailer transports us to the pre-independence era, introducing us to 22-year-old Usha, a college girl in Bombay, who endeavours to help India achieve its freedom and forms an underground radio station that becomes the fuel that fires the Quit India Movement. Through Usha’s journey, the trailer highlights the courage, sacrifices, and resourcefulness of the youth of the nation during India’s fight for freedom.

Sara Ali Khan said, “Portraying such a powerful character in Ae Watan Mere Watan has been an honour beyond words. To embody the spirit of my character and diving into her consciousness and understanding what motivates and inspires her has been humbling and empowering.”

Besides Sara, the film also stars Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O’ Nell and Anand Tiwari in pivotal roles and a special guest appearance by Emraan Hashmi. The patriotic thriller-drama is a Dharmatic Entertainment production, produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra. Directed by Kannan Iyer, the film has been written by Kannan and Darab Farooqui.

Speaking about working with Sara and Kannan, Emraan Hashmi said, “To essay the role of a political leader in the midst of India’s freedom struggle has been an honour. This is my second film with Kannan, who brings a unique sense of purpose to this story. It is also my first film with Sara, whose performance will undoubtedly leave the viewers in awe. I am excited that with Prime Video, a story as poignant as this will reach a global audience.”

The film will be available to stream on Amazon Prime from March 21 this year.
