A major accident was averted at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Monday afternoon. The vehicle that towed the Air India plane caught fire. The vehicle was only a few meters away from the plane. In the video of the incident that has surfaced, huge flames of fire can be seen from the vehicle. There were 85 people on board the plane when the fire broke out.

The accident happened around 11 am. The fire started near Air India flight number AI-647 from Mumbai to Jamnagar. The car was on fire for about 10 minutes and the flight was put on hold during this time. The fire fighting team of the airport reached the spot and brought the fire under control in time and a major accident was averted. The ‘Tow-Vehicle’ has suffered a lot in this fire.

The fire in the tow vehicle, which was parked a few meters away from the aircraft, was brought under control in time.

According to sources, “The tow-bar was being attached to the A320 aircraft when it suddenly caught fire. The pushback tug returned only after refueling. There was no damage to the aircraft standing a few feet away from the burning vehicle. The Jamnagar flight was delayed by about 20 minutes due to the fire.There is no official statement from the airline and the airport in this regard.
