Maharashtra: Three Thane netas test positive for Covid-19 | Thane News – Times of India

THANE: Three prominent netas from Thane tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.
A senior bureaucrat from the Thane municipal corporation has also tested positive for the infection, officials confirmed.
Shiv Sena leader and Thane guardian minister Eknath Shinde, along with party colleagues MLA Pratap Sarnaik and MP Rajan Vichare took to social media on Tuesday and informed about their health status. While Sarnaik said he was undergoing treatment at a private facility, the others have been home quarantined, their respective teams confirmed.
Shinde said in his post, “I have tested positive for coronavirus and am undergoing medical treatment under the supervision of a doctor… I will overcome corona and soon I will be at your service…”

The netas, some of who were busy touring, overseeing progress of developmental works in the city and meeting people as part of their schedule, have appealed to those who had come in contact over the last few days to remain alert and follow safety protocol.
Vichare said he had managed to evade getting infected during the last two waves but got the infection this time. “I appeal to those who have come in contact with me over the last two days to get themselves tested as a safety precaution.”
A close aide of Sarnaik in Thane said he was travelling to and from Mumbai over the last few days and got tested after he developed some mild symptoms. “He has been admitted to a private facility and his health is perfectly stable,” said the functionary.
Meanwhile, the senior Thane bureaucrat who has been re-infected was fully vaccinated and has been home quarantined with mild symptoms, colleagues informed.
Officials informed they have sent Covid positive samples of the Thane netas and the bureaucrat for genome sequencing.
