Mahadev Betting App Case: Actor Sahil Khan, Three Others Summoned By Mumbai Crime Branch

New Delhi: The Mumbai Police’s crime branch has summoned actor Sahil Khan and three others to record their statements on Friday in connection with the Mahadev betting app case.

An SIT official told PTI that an investigation is underway against Khan and 31 other individuals in connection with the Mahadev betting app case. The probe involves examining their bank accounts, mobile phones, laptops, and all technical equipment.

The crime branch has summoned Sahil Khan, his brother Sam Khan, Hitesh Khushlani and one more accused.

Sahil Khan is known for films like ‘Style’ and ‘Excuse Me’, and has become a fitness expert.

Celebrities including Ranbir Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Kapil Sharma Huma Qureshi, Shraddha Kapoor and others have been summoned in the past by ED for questioning as they promoted the online betting app.

“Ranbir Kapoor has been summoned to understand the betting business transactions. At this point, he has not been summoned as accused. His questioning is important to know his knowledge about the money sources he received. It will possibly indicate the plans of the promoters and their association. “Ranbir Kapoor may not be part of a conspiracy but very important to understand the scam,” News 18 had earlier quoted its source as saying.

Mahadev online betting scandal
The company promoted by Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal was being operated from Dubai. It was allegedly using the online book betting application to enroll new users, create IDs, and launder money through a layered web of benami bank accounts, the agency has alleged.

A special investigation team (SIT) of Mumbai police has been formed to probe alleged illegal transactions between certain financial and real estate firms in the state and the promoters of the controversial Mahadev betting app.

The size of the scam is about Rs 15,000 crore, as per the first information report (FIR).
