Ludhiana: Major blaze at yarn mill keeps firemen on toes | Ludhiana News – Times of India

LUDHIANA: A major fire incident was reported in a yarn mill known as Shivalya Textile in the Dhadhari area on Sunday evening.
The fire had spread at the ground floor of the factory and it was a narrow escape for the workers as work was going on in the factory at the time of incident. The exact reasons behind spreading of fire are yet to ascertained. The fire officials claimed that they reached in time so controlled the flames in time.
According to the factory staffthe fire started at around 6pm when suddenly material started burning and they rushed outside suddenly while screaming for help.
The staff tried to control it of their own with fire extinguishers but it did not work. The fire was in one unit while there were three more units in the same premises which were safe.
The fire brigade was informed immediately. However, the focal point fire tender reached the site first of all and other fire tenders rushed to the spot.
The leading fireman Rajinder Singh said, “The flames had engulfed the factory and smoke was visible from a long distance. We controlled the fire in an hour but the smoke was still there so it was taking time.” He said they got water from the focal point fire station and adjoining factory too so they became successful in controlling it in time. Over 8 fire tenders were used in controlling the situation, he said while adding that no injury it casualty was reported in the incident.
Yet another incident took place on Saturday late at night in a furniture shop near Bharat Nagar Chowk. The entire shop was gutted in fire and it took more than two hours while firemen remained on toes till late night as there was huge stock inside.
