Cristiano Ronaldo’s new wax statue at the Riyadh Museum was met with criticism from several fans on the internet. The Al Nassr star has finally seemed to settle in the Saudi Pro League, netting 15 goals in 13 games this season. Apart from his brilliant football form, Ronaldo continues to build on his legacy with the unveiling of his signature museum in Riyadh. The event garnered more attention as Ronaldo posed beside this statue of himself that was dressed in Al Nassr colours. The statue in question ended up sparking some controversy with fans believing that the details of the figure do not resemble the star footballer accurately.

Several fans have reacted to the statue reveal on X with many of them highlighting the difference between the figure and the real star. One even went on to claim that the statue resembles both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. “The Saudi Statue looks like half Messi and Half Ronaldo”, he said.

Another hilariously compared the statue to Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne saying, “At first glance, I thought the middle statue was Kevin de Bruyne”.

One fan said that the statue resembled the star’s Sporting CP days. He wrote, “They took Sporting Lisbon Cristiano and placed him in an Al-Nassr jersey.”

“This is the new statue of Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia, mmm not quite sure it looks like Ronaldo! Maybe more like Dybala to me!”, wrote one more.

The CR7 Signature Museum in Riyadh will be open to the public from December 1 this year. The official Instagram account for the CR7 Museum uploaded a set of pictures showcasing the massive museum in the heart of Saudi Arabia. “CR7 Signature Museum now open in Riyadh”, they wrote in their caption. In the pictures, Ronaldo can be seen posing with his brother and his son Cristiano Junior during the celebration. The museum has been built with the essence of highlighting the footballer’s decades-long career. The massive building captures some pivotal moments of his career with a similar resemblance to the exhibition in his hometown Funchal. The launch of this museum was announced by the head of the Saudi Entertainment Authority Turki Al-Sheikh during the Riyadh Season festival.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s museum unveiling was followed by an exceptional performance from the footballer in Al Nassr’s Saudi Pro League match against Al Akhood. The Portuguese icon scored a powerful brace in the game to seal a victory. He also reinforced his status as the top scorer in the league. This takes Ronaldo’s tally to 18 goals and nine assists in 19 games for the ongoing season. It will be interesting to see if he can break more records with his impressive form.
