The political upheaval in Maharashtra, which started about two weeks ago, is nearing an end. After Uddhav Thackeray’s resignation, BJP has started preparations to form the government. There is a meeting of the core committee at Fadnavis’s house at 11 am today. According to sources, Fadnavis may take oath as the chief minister in a day or two.

Eknath Shinde, who arrived in Goa from Guwahati, will hold a meeting with his MLAs before leaving for Mumbai today. He is also likely to meet Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari today.

On Wednesday night at around 11.15 pm, Uddhav Thackeray had left for the Raj Bhavan after driving himself to resign. He was accompanied by both sons Aditya and Tejas Thackeray in the car. When Uddhav reached the Governor to submit his resignation, the Governor asked him to continue in his post till an alternative arrangement was made. After submitting his resignation to the governor, Uddhav Thackeray along with his son Aditya offered prayers at a temple. After this he reached his residence Matoshree.

Here, the rebel MLAs also reached Goa late in the evening. After this, the leader of the rebel faction Eknath Shinde spoke to BJP leader and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the phone.

Uddhav spoke on the grievances of Shinde faction and said that you should have put your point properly. Uddhav said that those who were apprehensive of being deceived should stay together. He thanked Congress Working President Sonia Gandhi and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar.

Celebration in BJP camp
Here, after the announcement of Uddhav’s resignation, there is an atmosphere of celebration among the BJP MLAs. Slogans of ‘Vande Mataram’ were raised at the meeting of BJP MLAs at Taj Hotel and many MLAs celebrated the fall of Mahavikas Aghadi government by feeding sweets to Devendra Fadnavis.

After the meeting was over, Fadnavis left the hotel. He said that he will talk on every issue on Thursday. According to sources, he had a phone conversation with Eknath Shinde. There may be a meeting between the two leaders soon to form the government.

BJP offered Deputy CM and Minister posts to Shinde faction
According to sources, there is a churning going on between the Shinde faction and the BJP to form the government. BJP has offered 8 cabinet and 5 state ministers to Shinde faction. According to sources, Eknath Shinde has been named for the deputy CM. Gulabrao Patil, Sambhuraj Desai, Sanjay Shirsat, Deepak Kesarkar, Uday Samant can be made ministers.

Rebel MLAs reach Goa
The clan of rebel MLAs reached Goa late on Wednesday night. He left for Goa in the evening in a chartered plane from Guwahati. They had left the airport in four chartered buses from Radisson Blu Hotel and on the way they also showed the victory sign. Eknath Shinde had reached the Kamakhya Devi temple in the morning along with all the MLAs.

It is being told that these MLAs were to reach Mumbai to attend the floor test on Thursday, but now their program has been cancelled. Here, for the safety of the rebel MLAs on their arrival in Mumbai, about 2 thousand CRPF personnel have been sent to Mumbai by special flight.

  • Before resigning, Uddhav replaced Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey with Vivek Phansalkar as the new commissioner. The new appointment has been made after Pandey’s retirement. Apart from this, the Municipal Commissioner of Aurangabad city has also been changed. Sangli District Magistrate Dr. Abhijit Choudhary has been made Municipal Commissioner of Aurangabad.
  • The Uddhav cabinet has changed the name of Aurangabad district to Sambhaji Nagar and Osmanabad to Dharashiv. Apart from this, Navi Mumbai Airport has been named DY Patil Airport. The SP has opposed the name change.
  • Shiv Sena has suffered a major setback in Pune district amid the rebellion of Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde. Vijay Shivtare, a former Shiv Sena MLA from Purandar and a former minister, has announced to join the Eknath Shinde faction. Sanjay Raut has compared the rebels with Aurangzeb. He also praised Uddhav Thackeray’s work so far.

What did the Supreme Court say on the floor test?
During the hearing of the petition of rebel MLAs in the Supreme Court, Shivsena’s lawyer Devdat Kamat had mentioned about the floor test, on which the court said that we are not saying anything on this. If something like this happens, you can come to court. Shinde has filed a petition regarding the cancellation of membership notice to 16 MLAs and the issue of no-confidence motion against the deputy speaker.
