Lata Mangeshkar Health Update: Still In ICU But With A Slight Improvement- Doctor

Veteran playback singer and Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to the ICU of Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital after she tested positive for COVID-19.

The 92-year-old legendary singer is also suffering from pneumonia and was taken to the hospital on Saturday night. And the latest update on her is that she is still in the ICU ward but there has been a slight improvement in her health, according to doctors treating her reports ANI.

Earlier, Dr Pratit Samdani treating Lata Mangeshkar had said that she will continue to be in ICU for 10-12 days and is being closely monitored and treated for both COVID-19 and pneumonia infections.

Meanwhile, Lata Mangeshkar’s younger sister, Usha Mangeshkar told ETimes,”We cannot go to see Didi as it is a COVID case. There are sufficient doctors and nurses there, though.” She had also informed that Lata Mangeshkar might not be discharged very soon because of her age.

Considered one of the greatest playback singers in Indian cinema, Mangeshkar has lent her voice to thousands of songs in over 1,000 Hindi films as well as in various regional and foreign languages. Her last full album was for the late filmmaker Yash Chopra-directed 2004 film ‘Veer Zaara’. Mangeshkar’s last song was ‘Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti Ki’, which was released on March 30, 2021, as a tribute to the Indian Army.

Lata Mangeshkar was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour in 2001. She is also the recipient of several awards including Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, and multiple National Film Awards.
