There is very good news for actor Dulquer Salmaan’s fans. The upcoming OTT release of the action drama film, King of Kotha, featuring the beloved actor, has been confirmed. It is now official that the movie will be available for streaming on a popular OTT platform very soon. The announcement regarding this exciting development was made via the official X (formerly known as Twitter) account of the said OTT platform. King of Kotha, a Malayalam-language period action drama, initially hit theatres on August 24 and garnered mixed reviews from both critics and audiences. Unfortunately, the film did not perform well at the box office, managing to amass only Rupees 15.55 crore net in India and Rupees 31.35 crore in worldwide gross earnings.
For those eager to know where they can watch King of Kotha, the answer is DisneyPlus Hotstar. The news of its streaming debut was shared by the official social media account of DisneyPlus Hotstar Malayalam.

In its post, DisneyPlus Hotstar Malayalam announced, “King of Kotha will be streaming from 29 September on Disney Plus Hotstar.” It means that people who missed the chance to watch Dulquer Salmaan’s film on the big screen can now enjoy it from the comfort of their own homes.
Dulquer’s admirers are elated by the news of the period-action drama’s OTT release, and there is hope that it will find a more appreciative audience as it embarks on this new streaming journey.
The plot of the film is set in the backdrop of a crime-infested town. A person called Kannan Bhai and his gang are trying to reign power in the area. To combat this reign and seek revenge, Inspector Shahul tactfully plots the return of someone called the King, leading to a major turn of events for the place and its residents.
King of Kotha was promoted as a mass-oriented film in Malayalam cinema. Given that the Malayalam film industry is typically associated with slice-of-life films, there was significant anticipation surrounding this departure into the realm of mass-action cinema, akin to the KGF franchise.
Interestingly, Dulquer Salmaan himself served as the film’s producer. The movie also featured a cast of notable names, including Shabeer Kallarakkal, Prasanna, Gokul Suresh, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nyla Usha, Chemban Vinod Jose, Shammi Thilakan, Saran, Shanthi Krishna, and Anikha Surendran. It is also worth noting that the film was directed by debutant filmmaker Abhilash Joshiy.
