Khatushyamji’s Lakkhi fair has started on 22 February. This fair will continue till March 4. Last Saturday and Sunday, more than 15 lakh devotees have visited and it is being claimed that till Ekadashi (March 3 and 4), more than 30 lakh devotees will visit.
But, last year on August 8, 2022, a lot has been changed here after the stampede during darshan in the temple. Three women had died in this accident. Taking lessons from the accident, the temple committee has made better arrangements this time with the help of the administration.
It happened for the first time after Kovid, when the temple had to be completely closed for 82 days to change these arrangements. Traders of Khatu believe that the closure of the temple had led to a lockdown-like situation. However, 5 to 7 thousand devotees still used to come daily, who used to go from outside with folded hands of Baba.
After the stampede incident, the entire arrangements in the temple have changed… Bhaskar team reached Khatushyam to know its reality. It was told that land worth 4 crores has been bought and about 35 crores have been spent so that devotees coming from all over the country can have darshan easily…

In view of the accident that happened on August 2022, this time the system has been changed. The road has been widened by purchasing the surrounding land.
4 crores spent to make 40 feet road
Last year, the accident took place at the gate near Shyam Bagichi itself. There was a stampede when the pressure suddenly increased. 3 women had died in this accident. The devotees also broke the lock on the gate. The path there was also very narrow.
The temple committee bought a land in front of where the accident happened. Earlier there was a path of 10 to 12 feet, but now a 40 feet path has been made here by taking land. The curves that were there have been straightened.
There are more than 100 shops here, whose registry has been done. Earlier there was a rough road here. Now this road has also been cemented. About Rs 35 crore has been spent on the construction works ranging from land acquisition and road construction.
It is being claimed that now there will be no VVIP darshan. There is a line of devotees for darshan in the railing made for darshan.
Now there is no VVIP in Baba’s court
Earlier this was the arrangement: The temple committee, along with the administration, has completely stopped the system of VVIP darshan. Earlier it was brought to the office of the committee through the back way. The guards used to take them to the temple through the path made near the office of the committee. This path used to come directly to the barricade in front of Baba. Here darshan was done by sitting in front of Baba. Blessings were given with peacock. After having darshan, he used to bring back from the back way only.
Now here are the arrangements: Under the new system, the way of following the temple committee has been broken. 14 lines have been made for darshan. Darshan is being done from these lines only. After darshan, the devotees directly exit through three routes.
The zigzag route has also been reduced to 10 km. Last time this route was around 18 km.
ready for big crowd
The most important thing is that earlier one had to walk 18 km from Ringas to reach the temple. Then one had to walk 18 km to Charan Khet and Lakhdatar Ground. Now this path has become very short. The zigzag route has remained for 10 kms. This winding path has been made straight.
There are 8 lines of zigzag in Charan Khet, which are about 4 kilometers and on the other hand, 8 lines have also been made in Lakhdatar Ground which make a path of 5 kilometers. However, they will be opened only when the pressure of too much crowd increases. First only one ground will be opened. Zigzags of both the grounds will be opened when the crowd increases. A 40 feet road has been made directly from Lakhdatar ground to the fair ground.
To reach the temple, this time the crooked roads have been closed and made straight. In such a situation, darshan will be done easily.
90 to 120 people are visiting in 1 minute
Earlier, the devotees used to exit through the same way they entered the temple. Due to this, there was a possibility of untoward incident. Now in the new arrangement 14 lines have been made for darshan. These have been confirmed with iron barricading.
From here, 3 new ways have been made to exit after darshan. After the darshan, the devotees quickly move out. The committee believes that in the new system, 90 to 120 people are now having darshan in one minute. The first route is the old one which goes towards Kabootar Chowk. The second exits towards the back side of the temple and the third exits from near the temple itself.
It is being claimed that this time more than 30 lakh devotees will come for darshan. In such a situation, the number of security guards has also been increased here.
1200 guards of 5 security agencies
The temple committee has hired 5 security companies to handle the security arrangements. Tender has been done from Paliwal Security PSS, leader security, span security, govindam security, spyboard security company. 200 of his guards have been taken. 1200 guards have been taken from all the five agencies. These guards have been entrusted with the Khatu police. Only the police will decide where the guards have to be put on duty.
Apart from this, there are 160 old guards of the temple committee who will look after the arrangements inside the temple itself. Last time guards were deployed from outside who had no knowledge of the fair. The members of Scouts Guide have also been increased. Now a team of about 1100 scouts guides will be present in the fair. Which will fulfill the responsibility of providing water to the devotees and looking after the arrangements. In such a situation, about 2460 people will be in the security and safety system.
For the first time police personnel will patrol on horses. Along with this, the entire area has been equipped with CCTV. Monitoring is being done through these cameras from the control room.

In view of the security arrangements in the fair, jawans have been deployed in a troop of 4-4 for patrolling on horses. 16 mares have been taken from the police line. 320 CCTV cameras have been installed to keep an eye on everything. A control room has been set up.
Abhay has also been linked to the command center. Separate drones have also been called for. They will be monitored during the fair. 4 thousand policemen have been deployed. In these, policemen in civil dress will also do duty. Intelligence and CID teams will also give duty.
Three big parking free, contracts given to private
The administration has made three big parking separately to keep Khatu free from jam. More than 10 thousand vehicles can be parked here. A parking lot has been created in the municipality. The second parking has been made behind the culture school. There, a big parking has been made on Aloda Road. A separate 52 bigha ground has been created by the administration where earlier there was a lot of encroachment. These constipations have been removed. Vehicles will be parked here.
The municipality has also given tenders for more than 100 private parking lots for parking the vehicles. Tenders for parking ranging from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 6 lakh have been taken. A fee of Rs 100 has been kept in these.
4 exit points have also been made to make it easier for people to get out after having darshan.

Darshan is being done in 14 lines in Khatu. Due to this, the darshan which used to happen in 4 to 5 hours earlier. Now it is happening there in 10 to 15 minutes only. After darshan, different new ways have been made to get out of Khatu.
One can go from Khatu via Sabalpura and Palsana. This is a road of about 16 kilometers. Shahpura can go via Chaumun before Manda turn. This route is also of 13 kms. From Lamia you can go directly to Chaumun via Badhal, Kaladera. This is a route of about 55 kilometers. Apart from this, Lamia can go from Pachar via Renwal. Which is 28 kilometers long.
Rs 1000 fine for no parking, 20 cranes installed
For the first time in Khatu, the municipality and the traffic police have found a way to avoid the jam. People come to Khatu by vehicles and after seeing the place on the road itself, they put their vehicles and go for darshan. In such a situation, the car used to stand there for 4 to 5 hours. This used to cause jam.
Twenty cranes have been deployed to collect fine from such vehicles. The municipality has issued a tender to collect the fine on the vehicles parked on the road. Inside the municipality, the vehicles standing on the road are lifted by cranes. A receipt of Rs 1000 is being deducted for leaving these vehicles.
LCDs have been installed like this at various places. Where devotees can visit online anytime.
Fixed toilet and filtered water points will be installed
Committee manager Santosh Sharma told that every year lakhs of rupees are spent in the arrangement of temporary toilets and water in the fair. Later take back the temporary toilet. Keeping in view the problems of the devotees, after the fair, permanent toilets will be made at various places. All these will be made on the way of padayatra. Along with this, filter plants are being set up for RO water.
Road construction work stopped midway
The distance from Manda Mode to Khatu is 10 kms. The road was very bad earlier. The road has been made new while the work is going on in the temple. Although only about 4 kilometers new road has been built. There is a cobblestone in the middle of the road. The road is completely broken for about 5 kilometers ahead. Apart from Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Bikaner, devotees coming from Haryana also come here on foot. They are facing a lot of trouble due to the broken road.
Many changes have been made by the temple committee and administration regarding the darshan.
Online portal for disabled and old people
For the first time, the temple committee has made new arrangements for the handicapped and old people to visit Baba Shyam. A separate line has been made for Baba’s darshan. Divyangs will have to bring their medical certificate and elders will have to bring a photo identity card. A wheel chair has been installed for Baba’s darshan. Divyang will be able to sit on this and have darshan of Baba comfortably.
