Kerala government removed the governor from the post of chancellor: CM had accused the appointment of pro-RSS vice chancellors

The Kerala government has removed Governor Arif Mohammad Khan from the post of Chancellor of Kalamandalam Deemed-to-be University. On November 10, the government amended the rules of the university to remove the governor from the post of chancellor. Now a person associated with the field of art and culture will be appointed to this post. In fact, on behalf of Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, the resignation of the Vice Chancellors of 9 universities of the state was sought. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and the Governor have been attacking each other for the past several days on this issue. The Kerala CM accused the governor of appointing pro-RSS vice-chancellors in the state universities. Rejecting this outright, Arif said, “If you show even one such example, I will resign.” If CM is unable to prove this, will he resign himself?

Governor Arif Mohammad Khan had sought the resignation of the Vice Chancellors of nine universities in the state. He asked all the Vice Chancellors to submit their resignations to him before 11.30 am on 7th November. According to the governor, the rules of the UGC were ignored at the time of appointment of vice-chancellors in universities. Controversy escalated after his instruction. However, all the Vice Chancellors refused to resign.

The Vice Chancellor had reached the High Court in the matter
All the Vice Chancellors had reached the Kerala High Court in this matter. He said it was illegal and invalid. The High Court has also directed the Governor on Tuesday not to take any action against the Vice Chancellors till the matter is heard. Justice Devan Ramachandran gave the chancellor three days to file his reply and posted the matter for further hearing on November 17.

CM had said that there should be justice with the Vice Chancellors
CM Pinarayi Vijayan had accused the Governor and said that the Vice Chancellors are being denied fair justice. On his allegations, the Governor said that I only suggested a respectable path. I have not fired them.
