Kejriwal government asked for four times more oxygen than required, got audit panel of Supreme Court

Delhi had run out of oxygen supply during the months of April-May when patients claimed to have died due to lack of oxygen supply.

Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi has exaggerated up to four times the oxygen requirement During the second wave of Covid-19. The Oxygen Audit Committee constituted by the Supreme Court in its report said that the state government asked for four times more oxygen than required.

The oxygen supply in the state had run out during the months of April-May, when patients claimed to have died due to lack of oxygen supply. The state government announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in the incidents (lack of oxygen supply).

In April, 21 Covid patients died at Jaipur Golden Hospital as the hospital waited for oxygen replenishment during the second wave.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had earlier said that the Center has refused to approve a committee set up by the Delhi government to probe the deaths due to lack of oxygen supply during the second Covid wave. “Following the direction of the (high) court, the Delhi government constituted a committee of health experts to find out what is the cause of these deaths,” Sisodia said.
