Hoardings of leaders have been put up ahead of the meeting of opposition parties on July 17-18 in Bengaluru.

Before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the opposition parties will meet in Bengaluru on July 17-18. On Sunday, a day before the meeting, the Congress announced its support to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against the Centre’s ordinance on transfer-posting of officers in Delhi.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said- We will support AAP in Parliament against the central government’s ordinance. AAP will also attend the opposition unity meeting to be held in Bengaluru tomorrow. On Congress’s decision, AAP MP Raghav Chadha said – This is a good initiative.

After this announcement by the Congress, a meeting of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the party was held at the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. In which many leaders like Raghav Chadha, Gopal Rai, Atishi Party were present. In the meeting, AAP decided that she would attend the opposition meeting.

The monsoon session of Parliament is about to begin on 20 July. The central government is going to bring 21 bills in this session, including the ordinance brought on May 20 regarding the right of transfer-posting of officers in Delhi. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is gathering the support of the opposition against this ordinance.

Earlier on June 23, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had called a meeting of opposition parties in Patna. 17 parties including AAP participated in it. Then in the meeting, Kejriwal had said that if the Congress does not support us on the ordinance, then we will not come to the meeting of the opposition.

Delhi and Punjab Congress was opposing the support
The Delhi and Punjab units of the Congress party were against supporting the AAP. Party leader in Delhi Ajay Maken and party president in Punjab Raja Wading had said why support those against whom we are fighting in the state.

Congress President Mallakarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi had a meeting with the leaders of both the states on 29 May. After leaving the meeting, the leaders of Delhi and Punjab said that they have left the decision of supporting or not to the party high command. He will take the final decision.

Sonia wrote a letter to Kejriwal on July 12
This time Sonia Gandhi will also attend the meeting of the opposition. He has written a letter on 12th July inviting all the opposition leaders including Arvind Kejriwal for dinner on 17th July. Apart from this, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has sent a separate invitation for the meeting to be held on July 18.

8 more new parties will participate in the Bengaluru meeting 17 parties had participated in the meeting of opposition parties held in Patna on 23 June. News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that eight more new parties are joining the Bengaluru meeting. These include Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), Kongu Desa Makkal Katchi (KDMK), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK).

Apart from this, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), All India Forward Bloc, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Kerala Congress (Joseph) and Kerala Congress (Mani) have agreed. Of these new parties, KDMK and MDMK were allies of BJP during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
