The new KCR Bima Scheme is expected to benefit 93 lakh families who hold white ration cards. A new scheme to provide fine rice to every household with a ration card by next year was also promised by KCR
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao announced on Sunday two new schemes, besides modifying the existing ones, as part of party’s manifesto for the Telangana assembly elections on November 30.
The new KCR Bima scheme will provide life insurance of Rs 5 lakh to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families holding white ration cards. Nearly 93 lakh families are expected to benefit from this. “This will also strengthen LIC which is a public sector company,” said K Chandrasekhar Rao.
The other Annapurna scheme will provide fine rice to every household who has a ration card by June next year.
Support schemes
Further, the CM announced that Aasara pensions will be increased to Rs 5,000 in the next five years. “We are giving Rs 2,016 now. The first increment will be of Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,016. In the next five years, we will increase it to Rs 5,000,” said the CM.
Similarly, he promised if BRS comes to power, pension for persons with disabilities will be increased to Rs 6,016 for the next five years. “We are doing this in a phased manner so that the burden on state economy is gradual,” he explained.
Allowance under Rythu Bandhu support scheme for farmers will be increased to Rs 16,000 per acre per year. “We are giving Rs 10,000 per acre annually now. BRS promises to increase it to Rs 12,000 per acre annually in the first year when it comes back to power. We will gradually increase the assistance in the next five years to a maximum of Rs 16,000 per acre annually,” KCR announced.
BPL Women
Under Sowbhagya Lakshmi Scheme, all eligible women from BPL families will get Rs 3,000 allowance per month. “The BJP at the Centre has sharply hiked gas cylinder prices, putting an unbearable burden on the common man. We promise that when BRS comes back to power, it will provide a gas cylinder for Rs 400 to deserving poor women and the rest of the burden will be borne by the government,” the CM announced.
All federations of women’s self-help groups in the state to have their own buildings.
Health & Education
The maximum limit of Aarogyasri state health insurance is Rs 5 lakh now, which will be increased to Rs 15 lakh.
The BRS also announced that it will establish one residential school per constituency for upper caste poor. Residential junior colleges will also be upgraded to degree colleges.
Apart from this, the CM promised a policy through which orphans can be adopted as state children.
