Karnataka: Students wearing hijab turned away from exam in Yadgir | Hubballi News – Times of India

YADGIR: About eight students who arrived for preparatory exams wearing hijab were turned away by the staffers of government pre-university college (CAN I) at Kembavi in Yadgir district.
Although the incident happened on the day of the HC verdict, the students were barred from entering exam halls before the court pronounced the order. These students have been leaving the campus everyday following a brief wait ever since the state government banned hijab inside classrooms.
The students on Tuesday, like any other day sat inside a separate room and started negotiations with the college staff to allow them wearing the head cloth. As usual, the school denied permission citing interim order of the court said Veerendra Dharia lecturer of the college.
“Many minority students come to college wearing Hijab, but immediately leave after they were told not to enter classrooms. But, a few students wait in a room hoping to get entry. They leave when the negotiations fail,” he explained.
