The Karnataka High Court, while hearing the contempt of court case, has strongly reprimanded the state government. The court asked the government, what does it want the dead bodies to be thrown on the streets. On Thursday, Justice B. Veerappa said that the government is acting irresponsibly on this issue, you should be ashamed of this act.

Court gave 15 days ultimatum to the government
The court said, it is a matter of great regret that the government is not able to provide land to the people for burial. This is the reason why the court has to do the work of the government. The High Court also warned the Karnataka government that if land was not arranged for the construction of graveyards in all villages and towns within 15 days, the principal secretary of the revenue department would be sent to jail for contempt of court.

understand the whole matter
Mohammad Iqbal had filed a petition in the High Court in 2019. He told that there are no graveyards in many villages, arrangements should be made for graveyards here. While hearing the matter, the court had directed the government to provide land for the graveyard at the earliest. The government has not yet implemented the court’s order. Iqbal once again moved the court and filed a contempt of court petition against the government. The government’s counsel has sought time to submit a status report on the matter.

Make a graveyard for votes only
The High Court objected to this request of the government and said that it is not a case of missing person. People vote the government for good works. At least the government should consider building a graveyard as a ‘vote-getting measure’.
