MANGALURU: With petitions and a documentary addressed to the prime minister yielding no results in over seven decades, hundreds of Kamila-Mogra villagers pooled money and built a 50-foot-long bridge across a creek.

When repeated appeals did not get any response, the villagers joined hands and with the help of engineer Patanjali Bhardwaj, son of Padma Shri Girish Bhardwaj, built a three-feet wide bridge, known as the ‘Bridge Man’.
Mahesh Puchchappadi, a member of Gram Bharat, told TOI: “Organisations and companies, among others, came forward to support the construction of ‘Gramsetu’. After this, we consulted Patanjali Bhardwaj, who agreed to build the bridge.
