Karan Johar showers praise on Ranveer Singh, Kabir Khan and team; calls ’83 ‘a monumental achievement’ – Times of India

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are gearing up for the release of Kabir Khan‘s ’83. Recently, the makers organised a special screening for Bollywood celebrities. Karan Johar made heads turn with his stylish avatar.

After the screening, the filmmaker took to his Instagram handle to shower praise on Ranveer, Kabir and the entire ’83 team. He wrote, ”It’s not easy to tell a true story … an actual account of a milestone event in Indian Sport History! There is no room for cinematic licenses and distortion of facts for dramatic impact… which is exactly why #83thefilm is such a monumental achievement …. It sucks you into that year… that World Cup , that team , that political climate , that mad fandom frenzy… I saw myself rooting for every member of that historic team… Laughing and crying with each one of them … I saw myself rooting for Kabir Khan and his maestro ability of story telling…. Taking an arduous task and perfecting it like a mega methodical master! Salute! I saw myself believing that @ranveersingh had transformed into the Legend Kapil Dev with the ease and genius of a bonafide veteran! He is so so good that’s it’s almost unbelievable at so many points! Restrain and power all at once! He has hit it out of the stadium! ❤️❤️❤️My hugest congratulations to the entire cast, crew and all the proud producers of this magnificent movie!”

The film will feature Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar, Saqib Saleem as Mohinder Amarnath, Harrdy Sandhu as Madan Lal, Ammy Virk as Balwinder Sandhu, Sahil Khattar as Syed Kirmani, Chirag Patil as Sandeep Patil, Adinath Kothare as Dilip Vengsarkar, Dinker Sharma as Kirti Azad, Dhairya Karwa as Ravi Shastri, Jiiva as Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Jatin Sarna as Yashpal Sharma, Nishant Dahiya as Roger Binny and R Badree as Sunil Valson.

The actress will be seen essaying the role of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev in the film. Not only that, Deepika is also co-producing the film. This will mark her second production after Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Chhapaak’.
