J&K: Three Security Personnel Wounded In A Blast At Shopian, Says Kashmir Police

New Delhi: Three personnel were injured in a bomb in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian, authorities said on Thursday, adding that the incident occurred in a leased private car. The troops have been hospitalised, and an inquiry is underway, news agency ANI reported.

“A blast took place inside a private hired vehicle at Sedow, Shopian. 3 soldiers injured & shifted to hospital. Nature & source (blast due to grenade or already planted IED inside vehicle or malfunctioning of battery) of blast being investigated & will be shared,” Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar was quoted by ANI on its official Twitter handle.

Earlier, a civilian was fired at by militants in the Shopian neighbourhood the day before. His health was described as stable. Recently, there has been an increase in attacks on citizens in the union area.

Rajni Bala, a schoolteacher, died of gunshot wounds earlier this week after being ambushed by militants in the Samba area.

After the death of the school teacher, her husband claimed that the family is requesting for a transfer.

Speaking to reporters, her husband said: “Had the administration transferred her to a safer place earlier, she might have been alive by now. I curse my destiny. Just a day after her transfer, she was killed by terrorists.”

Amreen Bhat, a TV artist, was killed in the union territory earlier this month.

Another civilian homicide that sparked outrage in May was that of Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat, which raised safety worries among the Kashmiri Pandit population.
