J&K: Bandipora Police Arrest Three Persons In Connection With Murder Of Bihar Labourer

New Delhi: Bandipora Police arrested three persons allegedly involved in the murder of a non-local labourer a month back, and recovered a pistol in their workplace on Saturday, officials said.

Speaking at a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora Mohammad Zahid Malik, said that after Mohammad Amreez of Bihar was killed, a case was filed at Police Station Sumbal and an SIT (Special Investigation Team) was formed for investigation.

As per the SSP, Waseem Ahmad, Yawar Ahmad, and Muzamil Ahmad were among the suspects summoned for interrogation over the course of the inquiry.

After prolonged questioning, police zeroed in on the trio, who then admitted to killing Mohammad Amreez. Police also recovered a gun that had been used in the crime.

SSP Malik said, “On basis of clues we got by forming SIT & questioning people, we arrested 3 youths, residents of Sadunara, who confessed to the killing of Mohammad Amrez, resident of Bihar. Weapons recovered. Accused youths were in touch with handlers of LeT.”

Earlier in August, a migrant labourer from Bihar was shot at by terrorists at Soadnara Sumbal in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora. The labourer succumbed to his injuries following the attack, the Kashmir police had said. The deceased labourer was identified as Mohd Amrez, son of Mohd Jalil and a resident of Bihar’s Madhepura. Soon after being shot, he was shifted to the hospital for treatment where he died.

In a similar incident in Jammu and Kashmir, a non-local was killed in June, 2022.

In two attacks on the Valley, terrorists shot dead two non-locals, one among them was a bank manager from Rajasthan, leading to a new wave of Kashmiri Pandit employees leaving Kashmir.
