J&K: 2 Associates Of Lashkar-e-Taiba Arrested In Bandipora, Arms & Ammunitions Recovered

New Delhi: Two militant associates from terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba were arrested by Bandipora police along with 26 Assam Rifles from Lal Qilla Mode under Pethkote Police in Jammu and Kashmir. The LeT associated who were travelling in a White Scorpio bearing registeration number JK05H/0622 were arrested after receiving a tip off regarding movement of some terrorist associates.

The police and security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions during search of the vehicle. Three pistols along with magazines, 24 live 9mm rounds, 5 hand grenades, blankets, fake police identity card, fake identity card of Health Department and other daily use items were also recovered by the police and security forces from there possession.

The arrested terrorist associates have been identified as Mohd Yousuf Wani, a resident of Pethkote Bandipora and Manzoor Ahmed Shah resident of Bagh Bandipora.

During preliminary investigation it was revealed that they where in touch with some active terrorists of LeT and the duo were tasked to revive militancy by motivating youth to join militant groups and spread terrorism in the district, besides giving logistic support to terrorists. Timely arrest of these terrorist associates averted a major terror activity in the district.

In this connection, FIR under relevant sections has been registered and further investigation is being taken up.

On Wednesday, the Indian Army recovered bodies of two terrorists who were gunned down along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, the officials said, reported news agency PTI. The terrorists were killed on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday when Army personnel foiled their bid into this side of the LoC in the Nowshera sector, as reported by the news agency.
