Jharkhand: Wife was shot dead, she used to oppose gambling, so given such a dreadful punishment

Husband shot dead his wife in Jharkhand’s Lohardagga district because she opposed his gambling addiction. The accused had fled from the spot after shooting his wife, but the police nabbed him within 24 hours.
The incident took place in Chandkopa village under Senha police station area. Initial investigation has revealed that there used to be frequent disputes between husband and wife. The couple had a strained relationship due to her husband’s gambling addiction and financial difficulties. During interrogation, the accused Pramod Prasad Sahu has confessed his crime.

The accused runs a brick kiln
According to the police, the accused Pramod Sahu used to run a brick kiln. He used to beat up his wife Ujjwala Devi (28) on a daily basis. The accused shot the wife three times with his pistol. Other people and neighbors of the village took her to the hospital, but by then Ujjwala had died. On being arrested by the police, Pramod first tried to mislead. He kept saying that he had not committed the murder, but when the police tightened up, he spilled the truth.

In this desperation, he killed his wife during a dispute. The pistol used in the incident has been recovered. Further investigation is on in the matter.
