Jharkhand: NGT strict on the damage caused to the environment in Jharkhand, reprimanded the state government

The NGT (National Green Tribunal) has expressed concern over the environmental damage in Jharkhand and reprimanded the state government. The NGT has observed that the Jharkhand government has failed to prevent damage to the environment in the state. The NGT said this while hearing a petition. The petition has alleged serious violation of mining guidelines in the Rajmahal hill area. The NGT has directed the Chief Secretary to personally comply with the order.

Explain that a petition was filed in the NGT, in which it has been alleged that mining companies and stone cutting companies are not following environmental guidelines in Rajmahal hills of Sahebganj district. It is alleged that blasting is being done in the hills, due to which a large amount of dust and soil particles mixing in the air and water are contaminating them. This is causing a serious threat to public health.

NGT expressed displeasure

Hearing the petition, the bench’s chairman, Justice A Goel, observed that despite several orders, including directions to ban illegal mining and stone-cutting activities, no action has been taken by the state government in the last five years, which has resulted in Moving conditions remain unsatisfactory.
