Jharkhand Gangrape: Search for two more accused in rape case against woman engineer in Jharkhand, seven arrested so far

Police are on the lookout for two more accused in the gang rape of a 26-year-old software engineer in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district. Earlier, the police had got a big success in the gang rape case by nine people. Police had arrested seven people, two of whom are minors. At the same time, the police is conducting raids to nab the other culprits.

The accused confessed their crime
West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar said that the SIT set up to solve the case has arrested five people besides apprehending two minors. Whereas the accused have confessed their crime. According to the police investigation, nine people were involved in the incident. Two other accused have also been identified. Raids are on to arrest them.

The accused in the resident of a nearby village
The SP said that all the accused are residents of villages around the old Chaibasa airport. The five accused who have been arrested have been identified as Shivshankar Karji (22), Suren Devgan (20), Purna Devgan (19), Prakash Devgam (21) and Seema Sinku (19).

The officer said that the SIT prepared profiles of youths in nearby villages based on inputs from local residents, following which the arrests were made. On the basis of the lead, some suspicious boys were caught by the police. During interrogation, some confessed to the crime.

The victim narrated the incident
The victim told the police that she along with her friend had gone to Tekra Hatu airstrip in Scooty on the evening of October 20. They were talking on the roadside when in the meantime 8-10 people came and first beat them fiercely. The youths intimidated his friend and drove away and gang-raped the girl by taking her away to the deserted bushes.
