A dispute broke out between AJSU Party and Congress workers over the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in an area of Ramgarh town of Jharkhand on Wednesday. Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed due to tension in the area. A senior official gave this information.

In fact, a year ago, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) removed the statue of Patel, the country’s first home minister, for the construction of a flyover. They were reinstalling his statue after the project was completed.

An AJSU leader said that the AJSU party performed bhoomi puja to re-establish the statue on the government land near the spot where it stood earlier. But the Congress objected to this and claimed that the land belonged to a person who had not given permission for such an event.

AJSU party MP Chandra Prakash Choudhary had claimed that the plot belonged to him. An FIR was registered against him on Tuesday for assaulting a person.

Ramgarh Sub-Divisional Officer Mohammad Javed Hussain said that there was a dispute between the workers of two political parties over the statue of Sardar Patel in the nearby area of National Highway-33, due to which Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed in the area.

The Congress is part of the ruling coalition in Jharkhand, while the AJSU party was part of the previous BJP-led government in the state. MP Chandra Prakash Chaudhary along with his supporters reached National Highway-33 near Patel Chowk in Ramgarh on Sunday and started Bhoomi Pujan. This was opposed by Congress’s district media in-charge Mukesh Yadav and others.

Following this, Congress district president Munna Paswan alleged that the AJSU party MP thrashed Mukesh Yadav for opposing Bhoomi Pujan. District President of AJSU Party Dilip Dangi claimed that the FIR has been registered on the basis of false allegations.

AJSU leader and Ramgarh Municipal Corporation vice-president Manoj Mahato said, “The statue was first installed at Patel Chowk on the initiative of the party and a tripartite agreement was signed on its removal.” The government had promised to restore the statue but it has not been installed yet. “We had a plan to install the statue on government land near Patel Chowk, but the Congress foiled it,” Mahto said.

Regarding the incident, NHAI Project Director Vijay Kumar said, “The statue of Sardar Patel was removed from the intersection of the highway for the construction of a four-lane flyover. They said they would reinstall it once it was done.
