Jammu Kashmir: Two communities face to face after provocative rhetoric, mobile internet stalled, curfew in many areas, BJP MP appeals for peace

Tension prevailed in Bhaderwah on Thursday after two communities came face-to-face and protests against the statement of former BJP leader Nupur Sharma. People were on the streets till late at night. In view of the tension, heavy force has been deployed everywhere.

BJP MP from Udhampur and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said that I appeal to the elders of the society and the heads of both the communities to sit together to maintain the long-standing harmony so that the peace of Bhaderwah can be maintained .

Mobile internet service stalled in entire Chenab Valley late at night

A precautionary curfew has been imposed. Simultaneously, mobile internet service was suspended late night in the entire Chenab Valley, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban. At present the situation is said to be under control. People are being appealed to stay in their homes.

Protests and sloganeering started from place to place

On Thursday, after protests by people of one community against the statement of the former BJP leader, people from other communities also took to the streets late in the evening. Protests and sloganeering started everywhere. The confrontation between the two communities led to tension.

In the Nupur Sharma case, people of one side made strong remarks against another community from one religious place in Bhaderwah on Thursday. On getting information about this, people of other community also got furious and a situation of confrontation arose between the two sides.

Case registered at Bhaderwah police station

The administration says that the district administration Doda has imposed curfew after protests in Bhaderwah and tension over some communal issue. According to the police, action has been taken under the law for provocative statements, a case has been registered at Bhaderwah police station. The administration has made it clear that anyone who takes the law into their own hands will not be spared.

The protest will continue till the arrest

The people protesting said that a journalist has also supported the statement of BJP leader Nupur Sharma. The government should take cognizance against both. The administration assured the protesters of registering an FIR against the accused but they did not agree. He said the protests would continue till both were arrested.
