The final whistle did not bring an end to proceedings though.

As the players and support staff congregated in the middle of the middle for post-match pleasantries, two men did not. Mohun Bagam SG boss Juan Ferrando and Odisha forward Roy Krishna.

A few words were exchanged, soon followed by vehement pointing of fingers.

Just as things looked like boiling over, others came to separate the two. Odisha coach Sergio Lobera rushed to the defence of his player as Diego Mauricio too got involved. A scuffle ensued.

After the dust settled, referee Crystal John showed a direct red card to Ferrando and a second yellow to Mauricio, which resulted in a red card.

At the post-match press conference, Mohun Bagan SG assistant coach Clifford Miranda said: “…there was only one team who wanted to win the game, and that was Mohun Bagan(Super Giant)”.

Odisha’s Lobera too felt that his side lost two crucial points.

“We started the game very well but at the end, we lost two valuable points today, we need to analyse what went wrong in the second half,” Lobera said at the post-match press conference.

“I am proud of my players for the intensity and fight that they showed throughout the game, but I am not happy with the result,” he added.

Odisha FC will play their next ISL fixture against Hyderabad FC on December 17, whereas the Mariners will travel to take on NorthEast United FC in Guwahati on December 15.

“For us, the most important thing is the next game. The next game and we don’t think beyond that. We have come up to now thinking match by match, and we don’t think what’s going to happen five weeks later. What is the most important thing is the next game and the next game and the next game. So we need to think and we are thinking only about the next game and that’s it,” Clifford Miranda said.
