Chennaiyin started the match with positive intent but it was FC Goa, who opened the scoring through a precise volley by Boris Singh on the pass of Jay Gupta from the left flank. The away team continued putting pressure on Chennaiyin and soon increased their lead when Rowllin Borges took a shot from outside the 18-yard box and successfully sent the ball into the back of the net.

The second half saw Owen Coyle’s men coming out all guns blazing and stitching a string of neat passes before Vincy Barretto (58th minute) took a shot from the centre of the box that narrowly missed the post. Vincy found himself in the centre of action again in the very next minute as his attempt at goal from outside the box hit the left post.

However, the goalkeeper made a fine save before Udanta got the ball outside the home team’s box and scored a wonderful goal to put the game to bed.

Chennaiyin FC will now look to get back to the winning ways when they host East Bengal FC after the break on Saturday, 25 November, while FC Goa will go up against Jamshedpur FC on Monday, 27 November.
