iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus With Dynamic Island, USB-C Launched: Price, Colours, More

Apple officially unveiled the much-awaited iPhone 15 with a 48MP main camera, with a 26mm focal length, 2-micron quad pixel sensor and 100 per cent Focus pixels. The iPhone 15 comes with a new camera system, Apple said. Night mode on the iPhone 15 is getting better too. The Bionic A16 chip that powered the iPhone 14 Pro has been fitted in the iPhone 15. It uses less power than the A15 Bionic chipset. This means the iPhone 15 Pro models will be equipped with a more powerful chip. The iPhone 15 comes with colour-infused back glass and a new contoured edge. The Dynamic Island has been included in this year’s non-Pro iPhone models too.

The iPhone 15 comes with an advanced portrait mode for an improved bokeh effect that will use machine learning (ML) to automatically switch to portrait mode when clicking images of animals and human subjects. The iPhone 15 has been launched at a starting price of $799 in the US, which is the same as last year’s iPhone 14 base model. The base iPhone 15 Plus model is priced at $899, according to Apple. The iPhone 15 is the first iPhone model to come with a USB Type-C charging port. Apple always used Lightning cables for charging iPhone models but that has changed with the iPhone 15 series. Apple also said that USB-C charging has “become universal”.

The 5-core GPU has 50 per cent more memory bandwidth for smooth graphics when streaming videos and playing games. A new 16-core Neural Engine is capable of nearly 17 trillion operations per second, enabling even faster machine learning computations for features like Live Voicemail transcriptions in iOS 17 and third-party app experiences — all while protecting critical privacy and security features using the Secure Enclave.
