iOS 18 could bring a slew of AI features to Apple Music as well.
Apple is reportedly working on new features for the Apple Music platform that will be AI powered and offer more options.
Apple is preparing the stage to announce the iOS 18 version at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) next month. And according to AppleInsider, the Apple Music app will get new “smart song transitions” function along with more AI upgrades. The Smart Song Transitions allow users to set the crossfade duration between tracks from 1 to 12 seconds.
The present crossfade feature provides for smooth transitions between tracks by lowering the level of the previous song while increasing the volume of the new one. However, the details of how the new smart song transitions technology will improve this process are unknown.
Meanwhile, the report also mentions a mysterious new feature named “Passthrough,” which is likely to appear in both the Apple Music and QuickTime Player applications. This function could be related to Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos, although no definite information has been released, the report adds.
Apart from these audio enhancements, there are rumours that Apple is developing an in-house product called “Spatial Gaming.” Although the precise nature of this function is unknown, it might be related to Apple’s continuous research and development of augmented reality and spatial computing.
Furthermore, iOS 18 is likely to include a slew of new features and improvements to Apple’s mobile operating system. Apple Music subscribers may expect an improved audio experience on their smartphones with the addition of smoother song transitions and the fascinating “Passthrough” function.
