India is set to compete against Bangladesh in the semi-finals of the women’s cricket competition at the 2023 Asian Games. The match is scheduled to take place on September 24 and will be hosted at the ZJUT Cricket Field in Hangzhou, China. India are one of the favourites to win the cricket tournament at Hangzhou. Anything less than a gold will be deemed as a disappointment.
They had faced Malaysia women in the quarter-finals of the tournament. However, the match had to be abandoned due to rainfall. The Indian side batted first and were able to amass a total of 173 runs in 15 overs against Malaysia. Shafali Verma played a phenomenal knock as she belted 67 runs in only 39 balls. The Indian batter hit four boundaries and five maximums in the game. Jemimah Rodrigues played the perfect supporting cast as she scored 47 runs in 29 balls. Just as the second innings began, the game had to be called off because of rainfall which saw India qualify for the next stage.
The quarter-final between Bangladesh and Hong Kong also had to be abandoned because of rain. The game was called off before it even began as Bangladesh qualified for the semi-finals because of their better ranking.
