New Delhi: At the IIFA Awards held in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, Varun Dhawan was one of the performers and he chose to dance to his song Garmi from ‘Street Dancer 3D’. Nora Fatehi, a co-star in the film, joined him during his dance performance, and the two danced a modified version of the song’s hook step. However, the actors ended up getting trolled for their performance on stage.
On Sunday, Reddit users posted a video of Varun’s IIFA performance. He is seen brushing some dancers in the background, then withdrawing in fear as if he could feel the current flowing through their hands. He then goes on to dance to ‘Say Garmi Garmi’ made on the tunes of Shava Shava. After a little while, Nora Fatehi enters the stage to the tune of ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ and wipes Varun’s forehead due to excessive “garmi”. He raises her in her arms while quoting the Garmi song, “Arrey yar koi AC chala do yar (someone go and switch on the AC)”.

The act was deemed cringeworthy by some while being regarded entertaining by others.
A Reddit user commented, ‘Who thought this was a good idea? Who approved it? How did it pass all those stages of quality control and manage to reach the stage and now, our eyes? I need to speak to the manager. A manager. ANYONE!!!.’ ‘When did bollywood.become so cringe, genuinely asking?’ another person wrote in the comment section.
Shraddha Kapoor also featured in ‘Street Dancer 3D’, which was released in 2020. The last time audiences saw Varun was in the movie ‘Bhediya’ alongside Kriti Sanon. The next movie he will appear in is ‘Bawaal’, which also stars Janhvi Kapoor. He is now filming for ‘Citadel’s Indian adaptation.
