Parents wanted to make banking my profession

There was always a study environment in my home. My father was a section officer in the Bihar Legislative Council and mother a lecturer. Papa used to do writing work along with the job. After retiring, he is now a writer. I did my early education from Khagaul DAV of Patna. Then I took admission in Noida’s BIT campus for BBA studies. Parents wanted me to do MBA after BBA or prepare for banking. My parents never stopped me from modeling. Have supported but they wanted me to choose banking as a professional career.

Had to withdraw from ‘Miss Femina India’ if I did not have a passport

I too had never thought of modeling. I was studying normal. For the happiness of parents, she did banking and was preparing for MBA entrance. In the year 2013, I went to my hometown Patna. at that time ‘Miss Bihar’ Registration for the contest was going on. I filled the form without thinking and that year I was selected as ‘Miss Bihar’. That victory brought confidence in me. then i ‘Miss Femina India’ applied for. But at that time I did not have a passport, due to which I had to leave the contest. But I was not disappointed by that.

I ‘Miss Maxima’ I applied and I became the runner up. With one win after another, I had decided what to do.

Beauty is determined by the color of the skin in the society

When my sister was born, she was fair as milk. I’m just the opposite of that. I have been hearing since childhood that Nain-Naksha is good, but being a little fair would look very beautiful. Although my parents never differentiated between my sister and me. There were some people around who would go out with a lot of love saying to me that it would have been better if I was fair. Hearing all this, there came a time in my life when I wished I was fair.

Although my complexion was highly appreciated in the modeling industry. This gave me a lot of confidence.

Memorable moment of my career, which I will never forget

My biggest break in the modeling world was shooting a campaign for Shoppers Stop. After that the way was opened for me. then i Ponds, Lakme, Sephora, Label Life, Kalki Fashion, Tevek India Like worked for the brand. With all Roadster, Renault India, Sun Silk, Royal Stag, Jawa Motorcycles, Anymore Like shot a TV commercial ad for the brand.

But the campaign shoot for Sephora is the most memorable moment for me. I was shooting in Singapore. After the release of the campaign, posters of that ad were put up in malls not only in India but also in Singapore, Thailand, Paris, Malaysia and many more countries. People would send me pictures of hoardings and posters. That moment was the most wonderful for me. I will never forget that love of people.

People have a problem with the word dark but I have accepted myself as I am.

In the beginning people did not give money according to hard work.

After winning two beauty titles, I moved to Mumbai. I started doing freelance work there initially. It’s a problem for newcomers. Don’t get work fast. Even if you get work, people do not give money according to your hard work. People take freshers lightly. It is very important for freshers to join a modeling agency. If you go through the agency then people take you and your work serially. And don’t hesitate to give money.

My question is to those who say that you do not seem to be Bihari.

Being a Bihari, I have never had to face taunts outside. But it feels very strange, when people come to know that I am from Bihar and they say Lagti Nahi Ho. Whenever someone tells me that I am from Bihar, I don’t seem to be there, I ask him a question. How do Bihari look?
