Riyaz of Lucknow writes with his feet. He doesn’t have both arms and a leg. He lost his arms and legs while trying to save a girl child on the railway track. From CM-PM to President gave respect. For this bravery, he was given awards in all the countries of the world.
The government promised that when Riyaz passes 12th, he will be given a job. Now 4 years have passed since he passed 12th. But haven’t got a job till date.

In order to save the child, both hands and one leg were cut off.
At the age of 9, Riyaz saved a four-year-old girl from being run over by a train. The girl survived but Riyaz lost both his hands and one leg.
Year 2003. Nine-year-old Riyaz was playing in a park in Daliganj, Lucknow. There was a railway track in front. Then a girl of about 5 years started crossing the railway track. Her father was also with the child. The father was walking ahead and the child behind. Riyaz saw that the train is coming on the track where the girl is going to come.
Screamed loudly, called the child’s father many times but he did not listen. Riyaz ran and jumped on the railway track to save the girl child. He pushed the girl’s father and he lifted the girl in his lap and started moving away from the track. As he moved forward, his leg got stuck in the railway track. He immediately pushed the girl out. Before he could get out himself, the train ran over one of his legs. His leg was severed.
Even before Riyaz could save himself, both his hands were also cut off from his body. Riyaz lost both his arms and a leg in saving the girl’s life. He says that I was seeing my hands and feet being chopped off but I was stuck under the train in such a way that I could not get out.
Mother fainted when she saw her son in this condition
The picture has Riyaz’s mother, his wife and 3-year-old son. When the mother saw her son in this condition for the first time, she fainted.
A crowd of people gathered around there. People took Riyaz to the hospital. When his parents got this news, they ran to their son. Seeing Riyaz in this condition, his mother fainted. Riyaz was treated and the doctors saved his life.
Gave the exam by writing on foot and passed 12th
Riyaz’s life was saved but he had lost both his arms and a leg. He wanted to study but he could not understand how he would do his studies without hands, how he would give exams. Then a school in Lucknow adopted Riyaz. Riyaz learned to write with one of his feet. He used to give all the exams by writing on his feet. He passed 12th with 89% marks.
Opened a shop with a loan of 3 lakhs, goods worth 1.5 lakhs were stolen
Riyaz has not got a job yet. That’s why he is living his life by selling goods on a small kiosk.
After passing 12th, Riyaz took admission in a college for graduation. But due to lack of money, he could not complete his graduation and had to leave his studies. In the year 2022, Riyaz opened a 4 by 3 shop by taking a loan of 3 lakhs. The shop started selling toffees, biscuits, namkeens and spices. But after 3 days, goods worth 1.5 lakh were stolen from his shop.
Riyaz again bought goods from the shop by taking a loan of Rs 20,000. Now he comes to the shop every morning in a wheelchair and sells goods there throughout the day. They tell that they earn 6 to 7 thousand in a month. But it is very difficult to run home with it.
Riyaz says I am married and have a child of two and a half years. Along with this, there is a family of 8 people including mother and siblings in the house. With this much income, the household expenses are somehow managed. They say that earlier the father used to help a little in the household expenses. But he died in the year 2022. After this the responsibility of the whole family fell on my shoulders.
Can’t feed the family with respect
Riyaz says that in the meantime he was honored at many places. On 24 January 2003, the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee honored him with the National Bravery Award. On 26 January 2003, the then President Dr. Abdul Kalam awarded the Sanjay Chopra Gallantry Award. After this he was called in many TV shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Impressed by Riyaz’s bravery, many big personalities of Bollywood met him.
Rizwan was discussed not only in the country but also in foreign countries. In 2010, he was invited to Mauritius and Singapore for the Bravery Award. Riyaz says everyone respected me and praised me. I loved that my work was appreciated but no one helped with money. Now I cannot feed my family with respect.
3 governments came in 20 years but no one helped
Riyaz tells that it has been 20 years since this incident. Since then 3 governments came but no one helped me financially. After the incident, I was promised that when I pass 12th, the government will give me a job. I passed 12th in the year 2017. After this went to the public court of the Chief Minister. Asked for job but till now no help has been received.
This was Riyaz’s story. Dainik Bhaskar 3 days ago had told the story of a Dalit family of Auraiya whose child was beaten so much by the teacher that he died. When there was an uproar after the death, the DM gave a check of 3 lakhs to help the family but the check got cancelled. DM said that that check was symbolic.
