‘I Get My Sarees Stitched…’: Watch Twinkle Khanna’s ‘Controversial’ Opinion

Twinkle Khanna went to Instagram Reels to greet her followers with a ‘happy Holi’ while wearing a vibrant green saree from Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s label. The video montage included Twinkle displaying her designer saree and striking some goofy poses as she replicated people’s reactions to her telling them that she gets her sarees ‘stitched’. Rather than wearing a saree traditionally, Twinkle presented a case for ‘stitched’ sarees, listing ‘the pros’.

Apart from how easy it would be for her daughter Nitara to wear them in the future, Twinkle stated that she ‘can do whatever’ she wants when wearing ‘stitched’ sarees instead of a traditional saree. Twinkle shared the video montage and said, “This is controversial! My confession – Milord, I get my sarees stitched…”

She kept on writing, “Let me list down the pros. 1. I wear my sarees more often. 2. When I pass it on to my daughter she just has to adjust two hooks and it can fit her as well. 3. I need two safety pins instead of half a dozen. 4. You can do whatever you want – 11 jumping jacks or do Jack himself without unravelling a single pleat. 5. It gives our wonderful tailor masters more work. Raise your hands if you are a stitched saree girl and if not then tell me why. This is a debate. There is no right side and Happy Holi!”

Some agreed with Twinkle, while others reasoned with her. Someone commented on the Twinkle video, “I prefer to wear it in the traditional manner. I believe it allows us to style the pallu whatever we want Another person stated, “Well, I think the beauty of the saree is lost when it is stitched…. In my case, the stitched saree falls very oddly as my size increases or decreases.” Another person added, “One can even ride horses while wearing a saree!!! Only that you must know how to drape it correctly.” However, an Instagram user appeared to be intrigued by Twinkle’s hack.

She remarked, “Because I can’t wear sarees on my own, I haven’t been able to wear them since my marriage. During wedding ceremonies, I has been swathed by my mother or mother-in-law. Please explain how tailors do it and how to have it ironed.”
