Hyundai Creta EV: Looks, Expected Battery Size And Range

Hyundai is gearing up to enter the mainstream EV space in India with its Creta electric which is due by early next year. Till now, Hyundai has concentrated on the premium end of the market with the Kona and Ioniq 5 but the Creta EV or Creta electric as it could be called will be placed at the heart of EV segment within the compact space.

The Creta EV as seen here with some spy shots of a prototype, will share the broad styling details just like the recently launched Creta facelift but will get some EV specific touches. The front end could get a blanked off grille while the lighting could be the same as the facelift ICE version.

Also, the charging port would be at the front just like on the Hyundai Kona. It would be aero optimised details to increase range and will get different wheels as well along with tyres which are low rolling resistance ones. We expect the same interior as the current Creta with the twin screens but the gear selector would be removed and some new elements could be added in to distinguish it from the standard version.

The Creta EV could come with a 45kWh battery pack which will deliver a claimed range in the region of 450-500km. It could also get some elements from the flagship Ioniq 5. Hyundai will most likely keep the prices competitive for the Creta EV which would be its trump card as pricing is a key element for the success of an EV.

In the coming months many new car-makers will enter this very segment including Maruti Suzuki with the eVX and others too as the EV space grows in India with added choices for the car buyer.
