Hyderabad: Businessman’s wife walking in KBR Park ‘molested’ | Hyderabad News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: A businessman complained of his wife being grabbed by an unknown assailant early on Saturday at the KBR Park walkway. Issues regarding safety at the park have cropped up after a similar incident occurred as recently as November 2021 when a Tollywood actress was robbed at the outer walkway.
On Saturday, the businessman tweeted, “today morning at KBR Park, around 5.45am…one guy wearing a mask, white shirt and black pant suddenly caught my wife from back. This incident has shocked us. We gave verbal police complaint.”
Stating not to be carried away by claims of city police about safety, the businessman said that, “all CCTV cameras are defunct at KBR Park. We have been proud of our city being secured with highest number of CCTV surveillance cameras. Thank god she is safe.”
In the case of the Tollywood actress, police had arrested the accused and conducted a review meeting with GHMC and forest department officials to figure out what has to be done to prevent such incidents. It was decided that lights will be installed at dark spots, CCTV cameras will be set up and patrolling be increased.
However, three months after the incident, CCTV cameras are yet to be installed due to lack of sponsors. P
olice sources said that they have assessed that at least 50 to 70 new CCTV cameras should be installed with an estimated cost of installation and maintenance coming up to 80 lakh but so far no sponsors have come forward. When contacted Banjara Hills ACP M Sudarshan said that the the victim has not lodged a written complaint.
“Our patrolling team of 18 members were there during the morning shift. She contacted a patrolling constable, Mahesh after the incident and her husband also reached the spot. The accused fled from the spot and we are trying to identify him,” the ACP said.
