Human Trafficking: Ten children including nine girls of Jharkhand rescued from Delhi

At least 10 children, including nine girls who were trafficked from Jharkhand, have been freed from Delhi. This information was given in an official release on Friday. The children were smuggled to Delhi on the pretext of a better life, the release said.

The children, along with Giridih District Social Welfare Officer Alka Hembrom and Child Protection Officer Ahmed Ali, were brought to Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi by train on Friday. Out of the ten children, seven girls are from Jharkhand’s Khunti district, while three, including a boy, are residents of Giridih district, a government release said.

The Government of Jharkhand and the Department of Women and Child Development have set up an Integrated Rehabilitation-cum-Resource Center in Delhi. The nodal officers of the Center are working to free the trafficked people from Jharkhand and rehabilitate them in their districts in the state.
