Participants receive a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 during training.

This initiative is designed to offer free skill training to 500,000 young people throughout the state.

To uplift the youth of Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren unveiled the Mukhyamantri Sarathi Yojana in July. This initiative is designed to offer free skill training to 500,000 young people throughout the state. Under this scheme, the government offers comprehensive training to young individuals across different sectors, aligning with their preferences and interests.

These sectors cover critical areas such as healthcare, electrical engineering, information technology, electronics, apparel production, beauty and wellness services, the automotive industry, plumbing, and construction. The Mukhyamantri Sarathi Yojana introduced three schemes led by the state government. The schemes include the Jharkhand Skill Development Scheme, the Deendayal Upadhyay Skill Centre, and the Birsa Scheme. Let’s get to know more about the schemes.

The Jharkhand Skill Development Scheme offers both residential and non-residential training, totalling 300 hours or up to 3 months for the minimum course duration. Young individuals can select their preferred training option based on their preferences.

The Deendayal Upadhyaya Skill Centre provides residential training lasting for a minimum of 6 months, totalling 576 hours. Accommodation and food arrangements are provided for the youth during this training period.

Under the Birsa Scheme, the training is non-residential and prioritises digital courses up to Levels 1, 2, and 3 under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF).

During training, participants receive a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000. If they don’t secure a job within three months after certification, they can receive Rs 1,000 per month. Women and disabled individuals can get Rs 1,500 per month for up to one year.

Trainees will have a better chance of finding jobs in both government and private companies. The Jharkhand Skill Development Mission is responsible for overseeing the execution of the Mukhyamantri Sarathi Yojana, and they have already begun the registration process. Interested participants can register online or visit their nearest skill development centre.

The Mukhyamantri Sarathi Yojana represents a forward-looking initiative, aimed at empowering the youth by equipping them with the necessary skills. Eligibility for the scheme requires youth to be Jharkhand residents, aged 18 to 35. The Birsa Scheme extends the age limit to 50 for reserved categories, with a minimum fifth-grade education and relevant trade training.
