The holidays of the Punjab Police have been canceled till April 14. The police personnel who have taken leave or are on leave have also been cancelled. This order has been given by DGP Gaurav Yadav.

This decision of the Punjab Police is being linked to the demand of pro-Khalistan Sikh campaigner Amritpal Singh to call Sarbat Khalsa in Talwandi Sabo. On the other hand, it is being estimated from this preparation of the police that some big action is going to happen in Punjab regarding Amritpal.

Amritpal has asked the Sikhs to reach Talwandi Sabo on 14th April itself. However, it has not got the approval of Shri Akal Takht, the supreme authority of the Sikhs.

After absconding on March 18, Amritpal released 2 videos. In which the Akal Takht Jathedar was appealed to call Sarbat Khalsa at Talwandi Sabo on 14th April on the festival of Baisakhi. He asked Sikhs from India and abroad to reach Talwandi Sabo on this day.

Many security increased in Talwandi Sabo
The Punjab Police is on high alert in view of Amritpal’s call to the Sarbat Khalsa (religious congregation of the Sikhs). Every movement is being monitored in Talwandi Sabo. Punjab Police and Paramilitary Force have been deployed here. Apart from this, the officers of the Intelligence Wing have also been camped here. All kinds of clues are being made about whether Sikhs are gathering here at the behest of Amritpal or not.

Akal Takht Jathedar called Gurmati Samagam
Jathedar of Akal Takht Giani Harpreet Singh did not say anything on Amritpal’s demand to call Sarbat Khalsa. However, he has asked to organize Gurmati Samagam dedicated to Khalsa Sajna Diwas and Baisakhi at Sri Damdama Sahib Talwandi Sabo on April 12-13. The police is keeping an eye on whether Amritpal or radical Khalistan supporters should create any disturbance through this gathering.

Battling the challenge of law and order in the state, the Punjab Police on Thursday launched a checking campaign across the state. During this, 6 thousand houses were searched. 322 suspects were detained. The police called it a routine exercise, but it is also being linked to Amritpal’s appeal to the Sikhs to assemble at Talwandi Sabo.
