Himachal’s Keylong-Manali highway closed again: One and a half feet of fresh snowfall blocked the way around Atal Tunnel, danger of iceberg sliding

The movement of vehicles through Himachal’s Atal Tunnel has stopped once again. The Manali-Keylong highway was also closed. Due to one and a half feet of fresh snowfall near Atal Tunnel on Thursday night, the road was blocked.

Though the Manali-Keylong road was restored by the Border Roads Organization on Thursday, the road through the Atal Tunnel was again closed after overnight snowfall. Rohtang, Kunzum, Baralacha and Kugti Pass are expected to receive 2 to 3 feet of snow.

SP Lahaul Spiti Manav Verma said that the movement of vehicles from Atal Tunnel has been stopped. There has been heavy snowfall around the tunnel. Therefore, there is a danger of iceberg sliding at many places between Dhundi to Atal Tunnel North Pole.
